to commemorate this, my 100th entry, I proffer not the usual commentary. today I provide something more personal.
the photograph above pictures your correspondents. all play a game popular among Italians and geriatrics. most clad in short pants--the regrettable accoutrement of summertime leisure. few know the rules nor recognize how ridiculous they appear. none are much bothered.
if those imbeciles at BBC can develop a most bewitching series, I feel certain that the tales of my life with Cecil Augustus Downing found so engrossing at parties will appeal to an even wider audience.
I reserved judgment on Cecil Augustus Downing's posts until I had anatomized his work.
although I take issue with his vegetarianism, opinion of my father and statements regarding the above image (assuredly, this is a most unfortunate coincidence), he ably discharged his task. Mr. Downing exhibits a sentimentality which tempers the tone of my posts, softening the haughty impression most have of Nebraskashire Gentry.
