despite honoring a conservative Czechoslovakian politician, the federal courthouse affronts not the surrounding structures; its architecture balances these most pronounced characteristics of its namesake to achieve a design neither austere nor Bohemian.

still: nearly half the height of most buildings adjacent, it is doubly dispensable.

A Reversal of Fortune

a rather cruel twist of fate necessitates my temporary employment with the local school district. until I mitigate the effects of an ill-advised investment, I teach those so unfortunate as to be born too near the equator to speak English properly.

worse, I work at a school named for Nebraskashire's most famous politician--a populist silverite Presbyterian who supported all manner of anarchic activity.

Vegetarianism

in homage to the mystics and snake charmers of the Near East I so admire, I have all but eliminated meat from my diet; allowances must be made for the occasional, fresh-caught fish.

ungulates and fowl need no longer fear the swift action of my cook's butchering knife.
